Level 1: Your Camera and You

• Do you like taking pictures but get frustrated with the results?
• Do you have an SLR camera that you would like to know how to operate fully without using the automatic features?
• Do you want to take better pictures?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then this course is for you! Whether you are a complete beginner or have been taking pictures for years, Your Camera and You suits all who want to expand their camera knowledge and understand how to produce better photographs.

Your Camera and You will teach you the basics of camera operation in a low tech, easy to understand language in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Participants learn from assignments, interactive lessons, images and diagrams, and from reviewing each other's work. The class size is small so that everyone receives individual attention and a chance to participate fully in the course.

Your Camera and You covers:

• Camera Basics
  
• Lenses
  
• Films, Accessories, Filters and Gadgets
  
• Learning about light
  
• Working through problems and learning from mistakes
  
• Taking care of your camera

No previous photography experience is necessary.

Classes are Tuesdays, 7-9pm and run for 6 weeks

Level 2 Photography ­ Beyond the basics

This course continues from the beginner class Your Camera and You or for people with basic level photographic experience. Having a foundation in the fundamentals of camera operation, this course expands on composition and creating a good photograph. We delve deeper into technical aspects of the camera and lenses and accessories. With a major emphasis on critiquing each other's work and presentation, participants share their photography in a supportive environment. With interesting and challenging assignments, students are encouraged to push their boundaries while learning further technical, compositional and personal techniques.

This course will cover:

• Composition and Visualization
  
• Flash
  
• Shooting different subject matter such as people, landscape, sports, etc
  
• Digital Cameras

Classes are Thursdays, 7-9pm
Course starts June 22, 2006 to July 27, 2006

Level 3: Photography Course

This course continues from the Level 2 class. One of the most common complaints from students who have learned the fundamentals is that they don't keep up with what they've learned. In this class we focus on fine tuning your interest area(s) in photography. With a major emphasis on critiquing each other's work and presentation, participants share their photography in a supportive yet critical environment. With interesting and challenging assignments, students are encouraged to push their boundaries while learning further technical, compositional and personal techniques. Some topics will include: displaying work in galleries, getting work published, setting up a studio in your home, the computer and photography, and more

This course will cover:

• Defining your personal vision
  
• Night and experimental photography
  
• Advanced lighting techniques
  
• Specialized areas of photography
  
• Resources to help you further your photographic education
